Houston Aeros News Release

HOUSTON, Texas - Corey Locke netted two goals to help guide the Houston Aeros to a 4-2 victory over the Milwaukee Admirals Sunday evening ending the team's five-game home winless streak. Houston (10-9-1-1) earned five points over the weekend's three games, moving the club into a tie with Quad City for sixth place in the West Division, and only one point behind both Milwaukee and Peoria. Krys Kolanos scored the game winning goal to unlock a 2-2 tie in the third period and the Aeros now have a seven-game point streak against the Admirals (5-0-1-1). Goaltender Barry Brust relieved Nolan Schaefer and stopped all 14 shots he faced for his fourth win of the season.

Mike Santorelli tallied the first marker just 2:38 into the opening period when he banged home a rebound while the Admirals were shorthanded. Ryan Jones took a feed from Santorelli as he broke away from the Aeros defense, goaltender Nolan Schaefer stopped Jones' initial bid, but couldn't block Santorelli's rebound. The Aeros answered on the same power play when Corey Locke took a feed from Tomas Mojzis in the high slot and wristed a shot top shelf to tie the game at one. The assist for Mojzis marked his first point with the Aeros in his third game.

Milwaukee regained the lead 2-1 on their first power play opportunity of the game on a Kelsey Grammer goal at the 7:37 mark of the period. Grammer found a rebound in the crease and buried it on assists from Santorelli and Alexander Sulzer. Following the Admirals' second goal, Schaefer was pulled from the net in favor of goaltender Barry Brust. The teams finished the first period tied with 13 shots apiece and both teams finished 1-2 on the power play.

Houston took advantage of three minor penalties on the Admirals in the second period and outshot the Ads 14-5 in the frame. Left wing John Lammers tied the game for the Aeros at the 14:41 mark just after the Aeros third power play of the period ended. Lammers was assisted by Clayton Stoner and Marco Rosa and it marked his sixth goal of the season lifting him to second on the team in goals scored.

Just over halfway into the third period Krys Kolanos blocked a pass at the Aeros' blue line, blew past two defenders, and shot the puck between the pads of Drew MacIntyre for the game winner at 11:08 in the final frame. Locke followed up with another breakaway goal with only 1:08 remaining in the game. Kolanos set the score up with a pass to the wide open Locke and Stoner earned the second assist.
