Admirals Play Three-In-Three this Weekend

Milwaukee, WI - This weekend the Milwaukee Admirals (20 Games Played, 13-6-0-1, 2nd place Midwest Division, 6th place Western Conference, 13th place AHL) will face their first three games in three nights stretch under the guidance of new head coach Ian Herbers. Friday night the Admirals will host Grand Rapids (22 GP, 10-11-1-0, 4th place North Division, 11th place Western Conference, 24th place AHL), then will travel to Chicago (21 GP, 9-8-1-3, 4th place Midwest Division, 10th place Western Conference, 22nd place AHL) Saturday night, before returning home Sunday afternoon for the season's first clash with Midwest Division rival Rockford (22 GP, 8-13-1-0, 5th place Midwest Division, 15th place Western Conference, 30th place AHL).
In their previous two games Milwaukee and Grand Rapids have traded victories in each other's buildings, with Grand Rapids taking a 5-3 decision at the Bradley Center on Oct. 29, while the Admirals defeated the Griffins 3-1 at Van Andel Arena on Nov. 19. Grand Rapids forward Tomas Tatar scored the game-winning goal at 3:59 of the third period in the first meeting, while goaltender Joey MacDonald made 36 saves for the victory. Milwaukee forward Ben Ryan (Detroit, Michigan) scored the game-winning goal at 2:31 of the second period in the second meeting, and goaltender Jeremy Smith (Dearborn, Michigan) stopped 25 of 26 shots to earn the win.
The Admirals and Wolves have met five times to date this season, with the Admirals winning the first three meetings, 4-2 on Oct. 14, 3-2 (in a shootout) on Oct. 15 and 2-1 on Oct. 28. Chicago won the latest two contests by matching 6-3 scores on Nov. 12 and 18, each at Milwaukee. Admirals forward Ryan Thang (Edina, Minnesota) scored the game-winning goal at 13:33 of the third period of Milwaukee's Oct. 28 victory against Chicago, while Jeremy Smith made 27 saves. Wolves forward Bill Sweatt scored the game-winning goal in the teams' most recent meeting, while goaltender Matt Climie made 31 saves to earn the victory.
Sunday marks the first of 12 meetings this season between the Admirals and Ice Hogs. Milwaukee and Rockford split 10 contests last season, with the Admirals winning three games in regulation, one in overtime and one in a shootout, while the Ice Hogs won two games in regulation, two in overtime and one in a shootout. Last season Rockford finished with a record of 38-33-4-5, finishing in last place in the West Division despite accumulating 85 points. Head coach Ted Dent is in his first season with the Ice Hogs after spending five seasons as an assistant coach under former Rockford bench bosses Mike Haviland and Bill Peters.
