
D-Fenders Acquire Ryan Gomes

EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired forward Ryan Gomes via a successful waiver claim, it was announced today by General Manager Nick Mazzella.
Gomes was selected in the second round (50th overall) in the 2005 NBA Draft by the Boston Celtics. In 487 career games for the Celtics, Timberwolves, Clippers and Thunder, Gomes averaged 10.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 27.6 minutes. As a rookie with the Celtics, Gomes earned NBA All-Rookie Second Team honors with averages of 7.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. Gomes has also spent time internationally in Germany and Spain.
The 6'7" forward attended Providence College (2001-2005) and was a Consensus First Team All-American as a junior in 2004 with averages of 18.9 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game. For his career, Gomes tallied 18.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals in 35.1 minutes.
