Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced Tuesday that veteran quarterback Lee Chapple has returned to the team, as he has been assigned to the Jacksonville roster on a one-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The 25-year-old Chapple (6'1", 215) enters his third season in the Arena Football League, having spent the entirety of his AFL career with the Sharks. Most recently, Chapple served as the Sharks' backup quarterback during the latter portion of the 2014 season. Suiting up in the team's final seven contests of 2014, Chapple completed five of his 10 pass attempts for a total of 35 yards. He also rushed for four yards on two carries.

Chapple got his first AFL experience in 2013, as he competed in Jacksonville's training camp prior to the start of the season. Chapple then returned to the team for one game, serving as the Sharks' backup quarterback in a mid-season game against the Utah Blaze.

Prior to the start of his AFL career, Chapple attended the University of North Alabama, where he spent the final two years of his collegiate career. As a senior in 2011, he led the Lions to a 9-3 regular-season record, completing 65% of his passes for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns against 12 interceptions. Chapple transferred to North Alabama after spending three years at Georgia Southern. A native of Alpharetta, Georgia, he attended Greater Atlanta Christian High School.

The Sharks also announced Tuesday that defensive lineman Justin Parrish has been placed on recallable reassignment.
