
Power Acquire Jabs Newby for Alex Johnson

(Mississauga, ON - ) The Mississauga Power have traded Alex Johnson to the Saint John Mill Rats in exchange for Jabs Newby.
Newby, a 6'2 Canadian guard from Toronto played at Gannon University. Newby, the second overall pick in this year's draft has averages of 8.3 ppg, 2.5 apg and 2.3 rpg. Newby has had ties with the Power, as he played with the Power this past summer on the Power Development Team. Newby traveled with a select team of 12 Canadians to China and played against competition including teams from Lithuania, United States & China.
"I'm excited to get the opportunity to play back home and in front of my family and friends," stated Newby, "I'll be bringing a lot of energy and athleticism, I'm a young player and I'm willing to learn."

Alex Johnson leaves the Power as the team's all-time leader in assists. Johnson was the first overall pick in the 2013 NBLC draft and was named an NBLC All-Star in his rookie season. Johnson averaged 10 ppg, 3.7 apg and 3.15 rpg for the Power this season.
