
Northern League Announces All-Star Roster

The Northern League announced the 2010 All-Star roster for the interleague All-Star Game versus the Golden Baseball League, which will be played July 14, 2010 at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, AZ. It marks the first year of a two-year agreement for the leagues to meet for a mid-season all-star game. The Northern League will host the 2011 match-up.
The Northern League All-Star roster is comprised of players from the Fargo- Moorhead RedHawks, Gary SouthShore RailCats, Joliet Jackhammers, Kansas City T-Bones, Lake County Fielders, Rockford RiverHawks, Schaumburg Flyers, and Winnipeg Goldeyes. The NL All-Star team will be managed by Fargo- Moorhead manager Doug Simunic. The players were selected by voting from 72 ballots from baseball personnel, players, and media (nine votes per franchise). Each team was free to distribute their ballots to any/all of the following: manager, pitching coach, hitting coach, general manager, media director, broadcaster(s), hometown media, and players (Veterans/LS-5/LS-4 only eligible players).

Doug Simunic led teams have won five titles and have posted the top winning percentage seven times in the league. Over his career, he has over 900 wins in the NL. As the only manager in RedHawks franchise history, Simunic has led the 'Hawks to an average of 56.4 wins per year, while winning more than 60 games five different times.
