Renegades Officially Done

April 30, 2009 - SPHL (SPHL)
Richmond Renegades News Release

The Richmond Renegades offices formally closed today when we turned in our notice to the Richmond Coliseum stating we would not be picking up our option years. The SPHL league office was also notified.

For the past several weeks we have known it would be very difficult to raise the necessary capital to remain open and/or to find a buyer. We looked north and have been trying to keep hockey here by trying to bring the Philly Phantoms to Richmond. Many contacts have been made with the new ownership but they had already committed to Glens Falls, New York and made the move official yesterday. It now appears that for the first time in 20 years there will not be any hockey this winter in Richmond.

This Sunday at 1 PM we will have a sale of personal Renegades memorabilia from the past and present Renegades. It will include the original Renegades wood sign and the current sign, the large sign from the front of the Renegades office with both logos, the backdrop used in all the player photos, the Season Ticket Holder sign, and other related items. There will also be a few new player and goalie hockey sticks, shafts, blades, gloves, pads, etc. for sale. We suggest you arrive early as theses items won't last long. This is a cash only sale; no checks or credit cards accepted.

Thanks again to our great fans for your tremendous support. Hopefully we will soon have our great sport back so w e can enjoy it once again.
