Johnstown Chiefs News Release
Johnstown, PA - The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve has recognized the Chiefs' support of the National Guard and Reserve by accepting them into the Statement of Support Program.
The Statement of Support Program was put together by the ESGR to, "inform and educate employers about their rights and responsibilities towards their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve." The program also serves to reward and recognize employers who go "above and beyond the requirements of the law."
The Chiefs will be presented with a certificate in a pregame ceremony prior to their game against Reading on Sunday, March 16.
For their home opener on October 18, 2007 the Chiefs donated over 250 tickets to area members of the National Guard and Reserve through their Tickets for Troops program. The Chiefs matched every ticket purchased by local families and business through Tickets for Troops, and presented them, free of charge, to military members throughout the community.
The Chiefs join the Pittsburgh Steelers as recent Pennsylvania professional sports teams to be recognized by the Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve Program.

The Chiefs look to continue their climb up the North Division standings with a pair of home games this Saturday and Sunday. The Elmira Jackals come to town on Saturday for a 7:05 PM faceoff, and after the game the Chiefs will host their annual Kunzler Easter Ham Shoot. Each fan will be invited to come to ice level and shoot for a free Easter ham. On Sunday, the Chiefs will be holding a Saint Patrick's Day celebration, and they will be giving away team posters to the first 2,000 fans. That game will mark the Reading Royals' last trip of 2007-08 to the War Memorial, and it will begin at 5:05 PM. Great seats are available for both games!
