Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - As part of the continued renovations of Security Service Field, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox are installing a brand-new, state-of-the-art scoreboard over the next week. The dismantling of the existing scoreboard began last week and the project will be completed in time for the Sky Sox exhibition game with the Colorado Rockies on Friday, March 30th.
The scoreboard will remain in the same location, left-center field, but will receive a complete overhaul including many new features that will only enhance the already exciting atmosphere at Security Service Field. These new components include a LED video board, digital line score, and a fully-animated ribbon board as well as seven back-lit illuminated ad panels. The lone piece of the old scoreboard that will remain is the fan-favorite mountain scene that will be retrofitted on to the top of the new display. It will continue to light-up and celebrate all Sky Sox home runs and victories.
"The Sky Sox are incredibly excited to bring ours fans this brand-new scoreboard," said Sky Sox President Tony Ensor. "This state-of-the-art innovation will bring the entertainment level at Security Service Field to a whole new level and we can't wait to unveil our new addition to the public on Friday, March 30th. We'd also like to thank our corporate sponsors, Security Service Federal Credit Union, Pepsi, Coors, American Family Insurance, Premier Orthopedics, US Army Recruiting and Domino's Pizza for helping us bring this amazing new scoreboard to life."
The new video and scoring display uses Daktronics' popular ProStarR technology with lines of resolution on 23 millimeter spacing that has an active area measuring approximately 15 feet high by 22 feet wide. Beneath the video will be a new LED baseball scoreboard measuring approximately 9 feet high by 36 feet wide that displays AT BAT, BALL, STRIKE, OUT, and H/E and scores up to 10 innings. Rounding out the new video and scoring display will be a ProAdR message and advertising display measuring approximately 4 feet high by 55 feet wide. In total, the final display will measure approximately 42 feet high by 55 feet wide.
ProStarR technology, HD-ready and available only from Daktronics, uses the latest in full-color LED technology to present live and recorded video images, colorful animations and vivid graphics. The new video display will allow the Sky Sox to have full instant replay capabilities as well as complete video and animation abilities to entertain fans of all ages.
