Northeast Pennsylvania Breakers News Release

April 27, 2006 --- Scranton, PA After digging themselves a 22 point halftime deficit, the Breakers pulled out a miraculaous second half comeback over the Dodge City Legend 120-119, before a raucous crowd at Lackawanna College. Cory Hightower hit a game-winning buzzer beating 15 foot driving jumper to finalize the scoring.

The Legend had the Breakers number in the first half, building a 72-50 halftime lead, due in large part to the play of Ronaldo Major (20 pts.) and James Reaves (19 pts, 8 rebounds). "We were out of sync, and they took advantage," explains Breakers Head Coach Albert Clocker.

As in the second game of the season, the Breakers once again staged an impressive third period, outscoring the Legend 36-17 and closing the lead Dodge City lead to just 3 (89-86). Lennox McCoy was once again the spark plug, scoring 9 in the period and 34 overrall for the game. He alao grabbed 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The fourth quarter was a standstill, with Dodge City maintaining their slim lead with a balanced scoring attack. The Breakers finally took their first lead with 2:09 left in the game on a McCoy jumper. Dodge City bounced back with a jumper by Major. With 6 seonds left the Breakers were down 1, when Gary Goldman inbounded to Hightower, who spun left, and then right and then left again near the free throw line, and launced the high arching jumper with less than a second left on the clock. The buzzer sounded as the ball was still in the air before swishing through the hoop for the victory.

The dramatic victory improves the Breakers record to 2-1. "Beating the defending champs is definitely a confidence builder," explains Steve Castleberry (19 points, 9 rebounds), who also had the unebviable task of guarding 7'9" Sun Ming Ming. "I thought I ran into a wall at times," explains Castleberry, who stands at a mere 7'0".

The Breakers have two road games this weekend (at Brooklyn 4/28, and Long Island 4/29).
