Oklahoma City Comets News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Dodgers will host their second annual "First Look Fan Fest" Saturday, March 26 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The event is open to the public, and admission and parking are free.
A full schedule of all activities can be found below.
Gates will open at 10 a.m., and the festivities will begin with an Easter Egg Hunt at 10:30 a.m. in the outfield. The Easter Egg Hunt is open to all children ages 12 and younger, but all participants must register in advance of the event at okcdodgers.com/fanfest.
Former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder and longtime Dodgers coach Manny Mota will be on hand to take pictures and sign autographs. Mota is entering his 48th season with the Dodgers organization, including 13 seasons as a player. He spent 34 seasons as a full-time coach with the Dodgers and still serves as a special instructor. Mota is also currently a member of Dodgers' Spanish broadcast team.
Other special guests scheduled to appear and sign autographs are former University of Oklahoma softball standout and USA National Softball Team member Destinee Martinez, as well as members of the KOCO Weather Team, including Chief Meteorologist Damon Lane.
"First Look Fan Fest" will also feature the inaugural Dodger Dog eating contest at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The competition is open to fans 18 and older, and it will be limited to 10 participants, with men's and women's divisions. Whoever eats the most Dodger Dogs and buns in five minutes will receive a trophy and a 4Topps nightly table rental during an OKC Dodgers game. Those interested in signing up for the contest must do so in advance of the event at okcdodgers.com/fanfest.
The festivities will also include behind-the-scenes tours of the ballpark, giving fans special access to areas they normally cannot see, such as the home clubhouse. While visiting the clubhouse, fans of all ages can take batting practice in the team's indoor batting cages.
Team mascots Brix and Brooklyn will be available to take pictures with fans throughout the day. There will be plenty of family-friendly activities, including inflatable games, a balloon artist, a face painter, and a t-shirt design station.
Fans will have the chance to purchase ticket packages and pick their seats for the season. Ticket representatives will be on hand to assist and answer any questions, and the ticket office will be open to sell single-game tickets. The OKC Dodgers Team Store will be open with brand new merchandise for the 2016 season, with certain items in the store up to 50 percent off.
"First Look Fan Fest" will also coincide with the OKC Dodgers High School Baseball Series, with Coyle squaring off against Shidler starting at noon.
Free parking will be available in the Joe Carter Lot, located behind right field at the northeast corner of Reno and Joe Carter Avenues.
"We had an overwhelming response for 'First Look Fan Fest' last year, and it became very clear this is something we wanted to do for our fans again in 2016," said OKC Dodgers President/General Manager Michael Byrnes.
The Oklahoma City Dodgers open their home schedule on Friday, April 15 against the Nashville Sounds at 7:05 p.m. For more information about "First Look Fan Fest" or the 2016 OKC Dodgers season, visit okcdodgers.com or call (405) 218-1000.
