Brooklyn Cyclones News Release

Brooklyn, NY, August 10, 2007 - One, two, three, SHOOT!

On Saturday, September 1st, the Brooklyn Cyclones will hold a "Rock, Paper, Scissors" tournament for participants in the Tri-State area, with a grand prize at stake of two 2008 Cyclones' Season Tickets, and two round-trip JetBlue domestic airline tickets. The Rock, Paper, Scissors tourney will take place on the field at KeySpan Park, with four finalists advancing to the Cyclones' RPS Final Four, to be held during that night's game against the Staten Island Yankees.

Contestants will be divided into four qualifying brackets, and take part in double elimination, best-of-three series, with winners advancing through the bracket towards the Final Four. Each match will be officiated by a member of the Staten Island Baseball Umpires Association, and shown on the stadium's video scoreboard.

"'Rock, Paper, Scissors' has become engrained in pop culture, being used to determine status, settle disputes, and offer a truly open playing field in a battle of wits and will," explained Cyclones General Manager, Steve Cohen. "Best of all, it's a game that anyone can play. It is easy to learn, difficult to master, and there's no equipment necessary!" Cohen went on to explain that the Cyclones' staff has used RPS as a deciding factor in various decisions throughout the years, including, but not limited to, "lunch options, merchandise color selections, errand drivers, weekend work schedules, who gets the last slice of pizza, and just about anything involving two or more choices."

The team will also be conducting a "Rock, Paper, Scissors" giveaway that night, with the first 1,000 fans in attendance receiving one of the three namesake items.

"The tournament offers a fun, and funny way for people to participate competitively on the field at KeySpan Park," continued Cohen, "and gives players the opportunity to win some great prizes." The Season Tickets and round-trip airline tickets are estimated at an approximate $2,000 value.

To register for the Cyclones' Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament, participants must contact Rebecca Schwartz at 718-449-8497 or rebecca@brooklyncyclones.com before August 24th. There is a $15 registration fee, which includes a ticket to the September 1st game against the Yankees, and an event t-shirt.
