Erie Otters News Release

A five-goal third period by the Kitchener Rangers keyed by two Jeremy Morin goals handed the Erie Otters (19-16-5-1) to their first regulation loss after the holiday break, ending a 4-game winning streak in a 7-2 loss Friday night in Kitchener.

The Rangers scored just 35 seconds into the contest, but the Otters tied it at 12:33 mark as Tyler Hostetter fired a pass from the right corner to the tape of Andrew Yogan's stick at the side of the crease for the tap-in, Yogan's 18th goal of the season.

In the second period, the Rangers broke the tie as John Moore completed a tic-tac-toe passing play with the man advantage from Matt Tipoff and Jason Akeson at 4:48. Ramis Sadikov stood tall in net for the Otters in the second period, stopping 16 of 17 Rangers shots.

The game was put away in the third period by five Rangers goals, which included a pair on the power play and a shorthanded tally by Akeson. Jeremy Gottzmann scored the lone third period goal for the Otters midway through the period to record his second goal in three games. The Otters continue on the road to London to challenge the Knights Saturday night, faceoff at 7:00 p.m. Fans can listen to the broadcast locally on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan or online at ottershockey.com.
