Indy Fuel News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - A 6'1", 206 lb. Edmonton, Alberta native and left-handed shooting forward, Klarc Wilson signed with the Indy Fuel for the 2014-15 ECHL season, Wilson's first in professional hockey, the team announced Thursday. Wilson, 21, spent the past six seasons in Canadian Major Junior hockey with the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings, Edmonton Oil Kings and Prince George Cougars.

"We think Klarc is going to be a big contributor for our team," said Fuel Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Scott Hillman on Thursday. "He's coming off a breakout season in the WHL where he started to find the offensive side to his game...he's an effective power forward who plays with a lot of edge and we're excited about adding him to our mix."

"It was an easy decision to come to Indy," said Wilson Thursday. "Being a part of a younger team and keeping my game moving in the right direction are big things for me...I just felt Indy was the best place for me to continue to grow my game and hopefully contribute every night."

In 328 career games in the WHL, Wilson tallied 55 goals, 148 points and 463 combined penalty minutes. Last season with Prince George, Wilson set career highs in games played (72), goals (27), assists (33) and points (60). Wilson says his production in the 2013-14 season gave him the confidence to take his game to the next level.

"I had the chance to win a Memorial Cup in Edmonton, but it was last year in [Prince George] that gave me the boost I needed," explained Wilson on Thursday. "To have a leadership role, the ice time that goes with that and to see results on the offensive side...it all helped me to become that well-rounded power forward I knew I could be."

A self-described "high tempo" player, Wilson says he prides himself on playing a physical game. "I'm a powerful player who likes to battle in the corners, get pucks to the net and finish all my checks," said Wilson. "That, and I've never been shy to stand up for my teammates if need be."

In 2014-15, the Indy Fuel, the proud "AA" affiliate of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks and AHL's Rockford IceHogs, drop the puck on their first season in the ECHL. Season ticket packages for the Fuel's inaugural campaign are available now starting at just under $12 per game!
