Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio - Vectren Corporation and the Dayton Dragons will host Joe Ryan, Jordan Russo, and Chris Jurgens during the unique "Community All-Stars" program on Monday, June 11th, at 7 p.m. when the Dayton Dragons take on the Bowling Green Hot Rods at Fifth Third Field.

The Dayton Dragons "Community All-Stars" program recognizes unsung community members for their good deeds and efforts. This season the Dragons and Vectren will honor individuals who have gone above and beyond to improve the quality of life in the Miami Valley. Throughout the season, 35 "All-Stars"-anyone from firefighters to first responders, non-profit organizations to Good Samaritans-and their families will receive VIP treatment at a Dragons game in recognition of their service.

JOE, JORDAN, AND CHRIS' STORY

Situations arise when people have the opportunity to either help someone in need or look the other way. On January 4, 2012, Joe Ryan, Jordan Russo, and Chris Jurgens faced one such situation and rose to the occasion.

Patricia Oliver was driving along Rip Rap Road when she lost control of her car and it went spinning into the Great Miami River. The vehicle quickly started to sink and although Patricia was able to pull herself out of the car, she was still stuck in the middle of a strong current in 22 degree water.

Joe and Jordan were driving right behind Patricia and saw the whole situation unfold. They quickly stopped their car and came to the rescue. Chris, who was following Joe and Jordan, did the same. The three men worked together to swim out to Patricia, get her out of the water, pull her up a seven foot embankment and keep her warm until help arrived.

Joe, Jordan and Chris were honored by the City of Huber Heights with the Civilian Medal of Valor award. Jordan said he doesn't regret anything about the night. "It all went so fast and I couldn't believe it happened, but I would do it again in a second."

For their brave act, Joe, Jordan and Chris have been selected as Dragons Community All-Stars and will be honored at the Dragons game on June 11th. During an inning break, a tribute video will be played on the videoboard, and the trio will be presented with a plaque.

The Dragons Community All-Stars Program is made possible by the generous support of Vectren. For more information on the program or to read about the All-Stars honored so far, visit daytondragons.com.
