Lehigh Valley Steelhawks News Release

Bethlehem, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks are still fighting for their first ever playoff berth. To get that, they will need to pick up a win this weekend when the visiting Green Bay Blizzard comes to town for the first time in franchise history.

The Blizzard (8-3) will be in the Valley for the second matchup between the teams on the year. In the first meeting between the teams, in Green Bay, the Blizzard handed the Steelhawks a 74-61 loss. The Steelhawks will be faced with stopping Green Bay's high powered offense (2nd in the league). The Steelhawk defensive line, led by DL Brian Brikowski (40 tackles, 5 sacks in 7 games), will be contending with Blizzard RB LaRon Council (696 yds, 19 tds). The Steelhawks defensive backfield, led by DB Marvin Johnson (85 tackles, 6 ints, 1 sack), will need to contain QB Donovan Porterie (1,567 yds, 36 tds) and the dual threat of receivers Bryan Pray and Desmond Tardy as those two have combined for 34 receiving touchdowns on the year.

The Steelhawks (5-7) are coming off a solid win over rival Reading Express. The offense was led by QB Chris Malleo (190 yds, 4 tds in 2 games) and his receiving core of Irani DeAraujo (588 yds, 14 tds), Jeff Willis (546 yds, 11 tds), and Isaac West (181 yds, 8 tds, in 5 games). If RB Ryan Leafey (471 yds, 8 tds) is unable to play due to concussion symptoms for the 2nd straight week, the running duties will again be shared by Aubrey Norris and Matt Cohen who scored his first ever IFL touchdown in last weeks win.
