Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - JonMichael Redding worked his best outing of the season, as the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes opened their six-game home stand with a well-played 5-1 win over the Lancaster JetHawks.

Redding (1-1) earned his first victory since joining the club from Double-A Chattanooga, allowing just one run on seven hits over seven innings.

The Quakes scored single runs in five different innings, getting four of the five against JetHawks' starter Ruben Alaniz.

Austin Gallagher and C.J. Retherford opened the second with back-to-back doubles, making it a 1-0 game.

Scott Wingo tripled home Alexis Aguilar in the fifth, as the Quakes took a 2-0 lead.

Redding made just one mistake on the night, as he surrendered a two-out solo homer to Domingo Santana, as the JetHawks cut Rancho's lead to 2-1 in the top of the sixth.

Brian Cavazos-Galvez, who was called up to Double-A immediately after Monday's game, homered with one gone in the bottom of the sixth, putting Rancho back up by two at 3-1.

Leon Landry's ground-rule double brought home Chris O'Brien and chased Alaniz (3-1), making it a 4-1 lead.

The Quakes rounded out the scoring by tallying a run in the eighth against reliever Andrew Robinson. Cavazos-Galvez walked and then came in on Gallagher's RBI double, making it 5-1.

Steve Smith followed Redding in relief, retiring all six batters he faced to earn his second save of the year.

The Quakes (18-20) remain three games back of first place in the South Division. Rancho will send Garrett Gould (0-3) to the hill on Tuesday, while the JetHawks counter with David Martinez (0-2). Tuesday is another Healthy RC Recycle Tuesday, as fans are encouraged to bring ten CRV-eligible bottles or cans to The Epicenter for a free Club Seat Tickets.
