RedHawks Tip Tucson 5 Sunday

May 13, 2012 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tucson Padres News Release

Carlos Corporan's RBI single with two outs in the ninth inning gave the Oklahoma City RedHawks a 6-5, Mother's Day walk off win against the Tucson Padres Sunday. One batter before the game ending hit, Tucson's Daniel Robertson threw out Brett Wallace on a play at the plate to keep the Padres chances alive. The Padres lost for the second straight game in Oklahoma City and have now lost four of six on their current road trip.

The Padres scored the first three runs of the game in the third inning when Robertson scored on a wild pitch and Blake Tekotte later hit a two-run home run. The RedHawks chipped away at the lead and eventually pushed ahead with three runs in the seventh. One inning later Tucson's Brad Davis hit an RBI groundout to tie the game, but the Padres left the potential go-ahead runner on in scoring position in both the eighth and ninth innings.

Tucson's Josh Geer had a strong start, allowing two earned runs in six innings of work. Cory Burns threw a scoreless outing for the second straight game. The T-Pads are now 12-25 and the RedHawks advance to 20-17 with the win.

Next Game: Monday, 5:05 pm (Tucson time) - Tucson RHP Jorge Reyes (2-5, 5.59) vs. Oklahoma City LHP Dallas Keuchel (4-2, 1.85). Game coverage begins at 4:50 pm on Tejano 1600 AM.

Next Home Game: Thursday, May 17 vs. Nashville at 7:05 pm (Brewers affiliate) - Budweiser Thirsty Thursday.
