Oklahoma City Baseball Club News Release

Oklahoma City, Okla. - The Oklahoma City RedHawks (20-17) overcame an early three-run deficit and Carlos Coporan delivered the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to send the RedHawks to a 6-5 win over the Tucson Padres (12-25) before 5,082 Sunday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

With the game tied 5-5 heading into the bottom of the ninth, Brett Wallace singled with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jimmy Paredes followed with a single-his fourth hit of the game-but Wallace was thrown out at home by Tucson right fielder Daniel Robertson to keep the score tied.

Corporan stepped up next and hit a single to right-center field off Brad Boxberger (0-2) that scored Paredes easily to give the RedHawks their first walk-off win of the season.

Tucson got out to an early 3-0 lead in the second. A passed ball brought home the game's first run, and Blake Tekotte added a two-run homer.

Justin Ruggiano knocked an RBI single in the third to get the RedHawks on the board. In the fourth, Paredes doubled, stole third base, and scored on a wild pitch to get the RedHawks within one.

Tucson added a run in the sixth, but the RedHawks scored three in the seventh to take their first lead. Diory Hernandez, Wallace, and Paredes each collected RBI singles.

The Padres used a leadoff walk to their advantage in the eighth and eventually scored the tying run to make it 5-5. They stranded the potential go-ahead run in scoring position in both the eighth and ninth.

Xavier Cedeno (2-0) earned the win with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief.

The RedHawks finished with 16 hits, one shy of their season high. Paredes went 4-for-5 and Wallace and Fernando Martinez had three hits each.
