Sounds to Host Fantasy Baseball Camp for Hearing Impaired Children

May 13, 2012 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Nashville Sounds News Release

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Three Nashville Sounds players will spend part of their Monday morning at Greer Stadium as instructors for the team's Annual Fantasy Baseball Camp for hearing impaired children from the Sylvan Park Elementary, West End Middle IB World Deaf and Hard of Hearing School, and Eakin Elementary, sponsored by Sertoma Club of Nashville.

Catcher Dayton Buller and pitchers Donovan Hand and Jim Henderson plan to provide hands-on instruction to a group of 35 children from the three schools from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14 at Greer Stadium.

Each of the players will host stations for the camp attendees that feature pitching, hitting off a batting tee, and fielding. At the conclusion of camp, the three Sounds players will join the children for a picnic lunch and sign autographs.

The opportunity to take the field and receive instruction from professional baseball players is something valued by both the participants and the players.

The camp is a continuation of a longstanding partnership between the Sounds and Sertoma Club, who will be in attendance at Tuesday's game with the group of 35 children.
