Round Rock Express News Release

TACOMA, Wash. - Tacoma starter Erasmo Ramirez and three relievers held Round Rock to just a lone ninth-inning run as the Rainiers took down the Express 6-1 in Saturday night's Pacific Coast League action at Cheney Stadium. The Rainiers (13-23) won for the second consecutive time for just the third time this season. The Express (17-20) have lost four in a row.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, already leading 2-0, the Rainiers exploded for four runs off Express reliever Aaron Heilman. Carlos Truinfel led off the sixth with a double to left field. Two batters later Vinnie Catricala singled to put runners on the corners with one out. Heilman followed with a wild pitch which allowed Truinfel to scamper home. After a Guillermo Quiroz single, Heilman struck out Chih Hsien Chang but Scott Savastano followed with a two-out double to drive home a run. Johan Limonta and Luis Rodriguez recorded back-to-back singles to drive in two more runs to make it 6-0 before Mark Hamburger was able to strike out Trayvon Robinson to end the inning.

Ramirez (1-0) earned the win for Tacoma. He threw five scoreless innings and allowed just three hits and struck out six. Sean Henn relieved Ramirez and tossed two more scoreless innings giving up just two hits and a walk and stuck out three. Chance Ruffin pitched a perfect eighth inning before Scott Paterson came on and allowed a Ryan Spilborghs solo home run - the only run of the night for Round Rock.

Derek Hankins (1-3) got a spot start for the Express. He lasted four and two-thirds innings and picked up the loss. He gave up two runs on three hits and a walk and struck out two.

Limonta lead the way for Tacoma with a pair of hits and four RBI, including a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Quiroz recorded three hits and scored a pair of runs as well.

Spilborghs provided the only offense of the night with his homer. Mike BIanucci had a pair of hits, including a double, and Dusty Brown picked up the only walk of the day for the E-Train. Yangervis Solatre saw his Express Triple-A-record 22-game hitting streak come to an end with an 0-for-4 performance.

Round Rock continues its series with Tacoma tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 3:35 p.m. CDT. Right-hander Neil Ramirez (4-2, 4.98 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Express opposite Rainiers right-hander Jeff Marquez (2-3, 6.06 ERA).
