SERIES AT A GLANCE: The Flying Squirrels will aim for a split when they take on the Bowie Baysox in the finale of a four-game series at The Diamond tonight. Last night, Bowie right fielder Ronnie Welty went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, including a bases-clearing two-bagger in the top of the ninth as Bowie rallied from a two-run deficit and walked away with a 5-3 victory over Richmond. Bowie struck for four runs off Flying Squirrels closer Daryl Maday (2-2) in the top of the ninth and Bowie closer Greg Burke worked a scoreless bottom of the ninth to preserve the win. Flying Squirrels starter Justin Fitzgerald allowed just one earned run on four hits in five innings pitched and reliever Brett Bochy struck out four batters in 2.2 scoreless innings. Richmond built a 3-0 lead in the first three innings of the contest as Wendell Fairley hit an RBI single and Daniel Mayora and Chris Dominguez each contributed sacrifice flies off Baysox starter Tim Bascom. But Bascom, Kyler Newby and Burke combined to retire 19 of final 20 Richmond batters of the game to enable Bowie a chance to steal a late win. The Flying Squirrels went 9-16 against Bowie in 2011 including a 6-6 mark at The Diamond. Richmond is 27-32 all-time against Bowie and the club is 15-14 all-time in the River City.

The two teams will meet 24 times in 2012, 10 times in Bowie and 14 times in Richmond. Richmond won two out of three games between the two clubs in Bowie April 9-11. Following this three-game series, the two teams will meet again at The Diamond May 10 through May 14.

TODAY'S PITCHERS: RHP Craig Westcott vs. RHP Bobby Bundy

Westcott: Makes his sixth start of the season for the Flying Squirrels tonight. In his last start, Westcott allowed three hits and one earned run along with two walks and two strikeouts in five innings pitched against New Britain Saturday. He earned his first win of the season in Richmond's 5-3 triumph. Tonight's game will be his sixth career appearance, all starts, against Bowie. He is 2-1 with a 4.03 ERA against the Baysox. He allowed a career-high 13 hits and six earned runs along with one walk and no strikeouts against the Baysox in Bowie on April 11. He took the loss in Richmond's 11-6 setback. After splitting the 2010 season between Advanced-A San Jose and Richmond, Westcott spent the entire 2011 campaign back in San Jose. Westcott enjoyed a banner year in the California League as he posted a 13-4 record with a 3.42 ERA in 25 appearances, including 24 starts. His 13 wins tied for the most in the Cal League and he finished fourth in the circuit in ERA (3.42). As a result, Westcott was named both a Mid-Season and Postseason All- Star. He was also a Mid-Season All-Star in the Cal League in 2010 after going 6-0 with a miniscule 1.83 ERA in 13 starts with San Jose before being promoted to Richmond. Westcott did not enjoy the same level of success with the Flying Squirrels however, as he compiled a 3-3 mark with a 5.13 ERA in the second half of the season. He owns a record of 30-9 with a 3.48 ERA in 70 career minor league appearances, including 62 starts. He finished tied for 2nd in the Carolina League in wins (11), ranked third in ERA (2.75) and fourth in opponents' average (.230). As a result, he was selected as a Carolina League Mid-Season All-Star. Bundy is the older brother of Dylan Bundy, Baltimore's top pick in the 2011 draft and the No. 1 prospect in the Orioles farm system according to Baseball America. Bobby Bundy has a 1-1 record with an 8.00 ERA (8 ER/9.0 IP) in two career starts against the Flying Squirrels, including a win in his only meeting against Richmond in 2012 on 4/11 (6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K). LATE INNING MELTDOWN: Last night, the Flying Squirrels lost a two-run lead in the top of the ninth inning when Bowie posted four runs off Richmond closer Daryl Maday en route to a 5-3 comeback win.
