Amerks See League-High 44.5% Attendance Increase in 2011-12

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans experienced a 44.5 percent increase in attendance during the 2011-12 regular season over the previous year, marking the highest percentage increase in the entire American Hockey League this season.

The Amerks averaged 5,595 fans (212,605 total) in 38 regular season home games at The Blue Cross Arena this season as compared to an average of 3,872 last year. In addition, Rochester ranked 13th in the 30-team AHL in attendance this season after ranking 25th in 2010-11.

During the Amerks' regular season home finale on April 13, a season-high 10,018 fans watched Rochester defeat Syracuse 5-1 to mark the largest crowd at an Amerks game since Jan. 12, 2007. The Amerks eclipsed 9,000 fans on two other occasions, including a crowd of 9,771 on Dec. 30 and 9,217 at the Home Opener on Oct. 13. In addition, there were 7,118 fans on hand at Rochester's home playoff game on Monday, April 23, marking the highest total for an Amerks first round home playoff game since 1990.
