Norfolk Tides News Release

Bill Hall scored on a wild pitch - Louisville's 5th of the game - as Norfolk edged the Bats 6-5 in 12 innings Monday afternoon at Harbor Park.

Hall led off the decisive frame with a double to left field off of Travis Webb (1-1), then moved to third on a wild pitch. After a strikeout of Ryan Adams, Webb walked Matt Antonelli before issuing an intentional walk to Jai Miller to load the bases with one out. With Xavier Avery at the plate, Webb uncorked another wild pitch on a 1-2 offering, allowing Hall to race home with the winning run and give the Tides a split of the four-game series.

In addition to the five wild pitches, Louisville's pitching staff also issued 13 walks in the contest while throwing 208 pitches - 113 for strikes.

Norfolk jumped out to an early lead off of Bats' starter Andrew Brackman, who struggled with his control. Brackman walked five of the eight batters he faced while uncorking three wild pitches as he failed to record an out in the second inning. Three of the four runs Norfolk scored in the second were charged to Brackman, who threw just eight of his 34 pitches for strikes.

Ryan Adams extended Norfolk's lead to 5-0 with a solo homer in the third.

Louisville chipped away at the lead with an RBI single by Danny Dorn in the sixth before plating two runs in the eighth to pull within 5-3. The Bats then knotted the score at 5-5 on run-scoring singles by Felix Perez and Denis Phipps off of Pat Neshek - Neshek's second blown save of the season.

Willie Eyre (1-3) earned the win with a scoreless 12th inning of relief.

Hall led Norfolk's offense with three hits, while Adams finished 2-for-5 with a walk and two runs scored.

The Tides continue their homestand on Tuesday night, as the Indianapolis Indians come to town for a four-game set. Dana Eveland (2-1, 2.66) is scheduled to start for Norfolk against former Oriole right-hander Daniel Cabrera, who will be making his first start of the season. First pitch from Harbor Park is set for 7:15.
