Burlington Bees News Release

BURLINGTON, Iowa (4/30/12) - The Midwest League announced two Burlington Bees players won another weekly Midwest League Award. The Bees' cleanup hitter, Dusty Robinson won his second Player of the Week award and right-handed hurler Sean Murphy earned his first Pitcher of the Week title.

Robinson hit .375 over the course of seven games with a .467 on-base percentage. A slugging percentage of .708 gave Robinson an OPS of 1.175, which made him one of the most productive hitters in the Midwest League last week. Robinson also had two doubles and two homeruns that helped him drive in nine runs. He also scored five runs; walked five times; and stole three bases in four attempts.

Robinson first won the Player of the week award after the first week of the regular season when he had four homers and ten RBIs. The slugger currently leads the Midwest League with seven home runs and 21 RBIs.As if that wasn't enough, he also ranks first in total bases (55) and slugging percentage (.632).

Sean Murphy won his first Pitcher of the Week award after one spectacular start last week. On April 25, Murphy pitched seven innings of shutout baseball. The tall right-hander only allowed four hits and did not walk a single batter. But the most impressive part of his performance was the high strikeout total of 13 batters that either went down whiffing or looking. In fact, of the 25 at-bats Murphy pitched, more than half of hitters struck out, and one batter even struck out four times.

Murphy's work on the mound gained attention from MLB.com writers and for a couple days acted as the fea- tured story on the Athletics' Minor League Affiliates webpage. The hurler now ranks atop the A's minor league pitchers in ERA and ranks sixth in the Midwest League with a 1.17 ERA.

Drew Granier won Pitcher of the Week the a couple weeks ago, which means the Bees have won two Player of the Week awards and two Pitcher of the Week awards. Three members of the Bees roster have won four of the six weekly awards handed out this season.

The Bees play the Quad Cities River Bandits on Wednesday, May 2 at 6:30 p.m. to open May's home schedule.. To see the Bees live at Community Field, call (319) 754 - 5705 or visit www.gobees.com for tickets.
