Cam Bedrosian joins Kernels from Tempe; Jacob Negrete to Extended

Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announce that RHP Cam Bedrosian will join the Kernels from Extended Spring Training in Tempe, AZ and that RHP Jacob Negrete has been assigned to Extended Spring Training. Mike LaCassa, Minor League Operations Manager for the LA Angels, announced the move on Monday.
The Angels selected Bedrosian, 20, in the first round (37th overall) of the 2010 Free Agent Draft out of East Coweta HS in Georgia. He did not play in 2011 due to injury and made five appearances (four starts) for the AZL Angels in 2010, posting an 0-2 record and 4.50 ERA in 12 IP. He allowed 13 hits and 11 runs (six earned) with seven walks and 10 strikeouts. He is the son of former Major League pitcher, Steve Bedrosian.
Negrete made six relief appearances for the Kernels with no record and 9.39 ERA, allowing 11 hits and eight runs (all earned) with six walks and six strikeouts in 7.2 IP.
Bedrosian will join the Kernels in Cedar Rapids and be available for Monday's 5:30 pm doubleheader with West Michigan. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with no one currently on the disabled list.
The Kernels continue a nine game home stand on Monday night against West Michigan with a doubleheader at 5:30 pm. It's Dollar Pizza night where pizza slices are just a buck all game. Gates open at 4:30 pm.
