Gwinnett Stripers News Release

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. - The Gwinnett Braves won the series against Charlotte with a 3-1 victory over the Knights on Thursday night at Coolray Field. Right-hander Eric Junge worked seven strong innings of one-run baseball en route to his team-leading third win of the season.

Jordan Parraz went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored for the G-Braves. Joey Terdoslavich (2-for-4, double, run) and Luis Durango (2-for-3, triple, run) each recorded multiple-hit games as well.

Junge (W, 3-1) worked seven masterful innings for Gwinnett in his third-straight win. The right-hander allowed one run on seven hits and struck out five hitters while walking two. With his second-straight quality outing, Junge lowered his ERA from 4.50 to 3.52 on the year.

Gwinnett struck first with a run in the third inning thanks to Durango's leadoff triple. The speedster was knocked in the very next batter when Drew Sutton grounded out to first base for the RBI and a 1-0 G-Braves' lead.

Following Conor Jackson's RBI single that tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the sixth, Gwinnett answered right back in the bottom half of the frame with a two-spot to take a 3-1 lead. Terdoslavich and Parraz struck for back-to-back hits before being driven home by the next two hitters in the order, Josh Wilson and Jose Yepez.

The G-Braves' bullpen remained dominant as right-hander Jason Rice worked a perfect eighth inning and right-hander Jaye Chapman (S, 2) pitched a flawless ninth for the save. Chapman struck out two hitters during his scoreless frame.

Charlotte starter Eric Stults (L, 1-1) was solid for 5.2 innings, but took the loss nevertheless. The southpaw allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out four while walking three.

Josh Phegley went 3-for-4 in the losing cause for the Knights.

The IL South Division-leading Gwinnett Braves (14-7) now venture onto the road for eight games away from Coolray Field. First up is a four-game set with Toledo (14-6) followed by four games with back-to-back International League champion Columbus (10-10).
