Knights Drop Finale to Braves 3-1

(Lawrenceville, GA) - Gwinnett starter Eric Junge (3-1, 3.52) threw seven good innings, Jordan Parraz had three hits and the Gwinnett Braves earned a series win over the Charlotte Knights with a 3-1 victory on Thursday in the finale from Coolray Field.

With the win, the Braves pulled to an even 3-3 against the Knights this season. Charlotte took two of three at Knights Stadium, while Gwinnett took two of three from Coolray Field including the rubber game on Thursday.

LHP Eric Stults (1-1, 2.08) started for the Knights and allowed three runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings. Stults entered the game with the third-best ERA in the International League. He walked three, struck-out four and was saddled with his first loss of the season.

Offensively, Knights catcher Josh Phegley extended his hit-streak to 10-straight games. Phegley went 3-4 and upped his average to .385. He has 18 hits over the 10-game span, including three doubles, one home run and seven RBIs.

Charlotte's only run of the game came in the sixth inning when Conor Jackson hit an RBI single, which scored Greg Golson from second base.

Junge allowed just one run over seven innings for his third win of the season.

Charlotte (11-10) will now make the trek to Syracuse, NY and begin a four-game series with the Syracuse Chiefs on Friday evening. RHP Charlie Shirek (3-1, 3.38) - the reigning International League Pitcher of the Week, will take the mound for Charlotte. He will be opposed by RHP Mitch Atkins (1-2, 3.18) for Syracuse (7-13).
