Bisons Place OF Adam Loewen on DL, Activate RHP Jeremy Hefner

April 26, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that OF ADAM LOEWEN has been placed on the disabled list with a stress fracture in the 2nd right metatarsal. The club also announced that RHP JEREMY HEFNER has been placed on the Bisons active roster.

Loewen has not played since April 20 with the Bisons. In his 12 games before the injury, the outfielder hit .270 (10-37) with three home runs and nine RBI. With eight walks to only five strikeouts, Loewen posted a .400 on-base percentage to begin the 2012 season.

Hefner returns after making his major league debut with the Mets. The righty was recalled on April 23 and threw three scoreless innings of relief for New York that night against San Francisco (3H, BB). Hefner has made three starts for the Bisons this season and is 2-1 with a 1.96ERA and two quality starts (18.1IP, 19H, 4BB, 9K). He has the sixth-best ERA in the International League.

The Bisons begin an eight-game homestand on Friday with the first game of a four-game series with the Rochester Red Wings (6:05 p.m.).
