Dragons Receive Pitcher Brooks Pinckard From Bakersfield
April 22, 2012 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Dayton Dragons News Release
Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons announced the following roster moves today:
Right-handed pitcher Brooks Pinckard has been assigned to Dayton from Bakersfield (California League).
Right-handed pitcher Erik Miller has been sent from Dayton to extended spring training in Goodyear, Arizona.
The Dragons roster remains at the Midwest League limit of 25 players.
Pinckard appeared in five games this season with Bakersfield, logging seven innings. He was 0-0 with a 5.14 earned run average. He appeared in 28 games last season at Billings (Pioneer League), going 3-2 with 10 saves and a 3.62 ERA. Pinckard was the Reds 10th round draft pick in 2011 out of Baylor University. He was a two-way player at Baylor, where he played center field and pitched. The Cubs drafted Pinckard as an outfielder in 2010 but he did not sign. In 2011 at Baylor, he posted the second highest stolen base total in school history with 36 while batting .295. On the mound, he was used as both a starter and reliever, going 5-3 with a 3.57 ERA and three saves. Pinckard received an award that was voted upon by his teammates as "the individual who best exemplifies leadership, character and a team-first attitude." Ironically, Baseball America named Pinckard as the "fastest runner" among all Reds 2011 draftees.
Miller appeared in five games with the Dragons this season, going 0-0 with a 9.39 earned run average.
The Dragons host the Cedar Rapids Kernels today at 4:00 p.m. (WONE Radio 980 AM). They also host the Kernels on Monday and Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. For information on lawn tickets and group seating options, call (937) 228-2287.
