Jackals Shut out by Everblades in Game 4

April 18, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL) - Elmira Jackals News Release

Estero, Fla. - The Elmira Jackals suffered their second shutout loss of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Semifinals on Wednesday night at Germain Arena, falling to the Florida Everblades, 2-0. The loss pushed the Jackals, who now trail the series, three games to one, to the brink of elimination.

The teams skated through a scoreless first period, with the Jackals outshooting the Everblades, 8-5, in the opening 20 minutes. Jean Bourbeau appeared to have a scored a goal 4:37 into the period when he sent in a rebound off a Nick Dineen shot. Referee TJ Luxmore waved off the goal, calling the Jackals for goaltender interference and keeping the game scoreless.

Early in the second frame, Scott Pitt, after being denied by a spectacular glove stop by Brian Stewart, recovered in the slot and snapped a puck in at 2:32, putting Florida up 1-0.

The Everblades wasted little time in the third period in extending their lead, as Bobby Raymond knocked down an Elmira clearing attempt and wristed a puck past Stewart from the left circle, giving Florida a 2-0 edge at 1:14.

Florida netminder Pat Nagle (2-0) made 24 saves in the victory, including 11 in the third period. Nagle produced several late stops on the Jackals, including a big save moving to his right on a centering feed to Jack Downing as time wound down in the last stanza. Stewart (4-3) also turned in a strong effort, setting aside 24 shots in the loss.

The Jackals and the Everblades will meet in Game 5 on Friday night at Germain Arena, with the opening face-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
