RiverDogs Return Home for Four-Game Series

CHARLESTON, SC - The Charleston RiverDogs return home on April 19 following a seven-game road swing for four games with the West Virginia Power, the Class-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. The team's second homestand of the season will once again be full of fan-friendly events and giveaways that will be encouraging everyone at the park to "Be Your Own Fan."
The homestand begins on April 19, which will be Palmetto Pride Night at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. The RiverDogs are teaming up with the Palmetto Pride organization to promote putting an end to littering and keeping South Carolina beautiful. The series continues on Friday with Charleston County School District Teacher Appreciation Night, where the CCSD Teacher of the Year will be announced. The candidates for the award will be recognized on the field before the game. The winner will be announced during the contest and will receive a one year lease on a new car from Volvo of Charleston.
Saturday at The Joe will be another give-away day, as the Association for the Blind will be sponsoring a long-sleeve t-shirt giveaway for the first 1,000 fans. The team closes out their series with West Virginia on Sunday, April 22 with Bark for Your Brew presented by Fetch Doggy Day Care. The event will take place at the park from 2-5 p.m and will benefit Canines for Veterans. Fans can bring their dog with them and will be able to sample different craft beers from all over the country. Also, with the exceptional play of the RiverDogs so far this year, those who come to the ballpark should enjoy what is happening on the field at The Joe as well as what is happening off of it. This homestand is yet another chance for everyone to "Be Your Own Fan."

Sat., April 21 West Virginia Power 7:05 PM Tri-county residents receive $1 off admission as part of
Lowcountry Local First Go Local Saturday. Long-sleeve t-shirt giveaway to the first 1,000 fans presented by Association for the Blind. The Double Up for Vision relay will finish on the field before the game and awards will be given. RiverDogs Express is back and will be on the warning track before the game and in the concourse during the game. Kids can run the bases after the game.
Sun., April 22 West Virginia Power 5:05 PM Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission and Crews Chevrolet Family Sunday featuring Free Parking, pregame catch on the field, reading with a RiverDogs and postgame autographs. Kids Eat Free courtesy of Pepsi.. Bark for Your Brew sponsored by Fetch Doggy Day Care from 2-5 p.m, which will benefit Canines for Veterans. Dog Day #2 also sponsored by Fetch Doggy Day Care.
April 19: Palmetto Pride Night, Budweiser Thirsty Thursday:
Thursday will be Palmetto Pride Night as the RiverDogs will help promote the effort to keep South Carolina beautiful. Since it is a Thursday, that means it will be a Budweiser Thirsty Thursday with $1 beers and food specials in the Ashley View pub. The beer will be flowing along with the music because DJ Natty Heavy will also be back in the AVP.
Apr. 20: Teacher Appreciation Night, General Dynamics Red Shirt Friday, Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks:
Fans can come out for Teacher Appreciation Night, where the candidates for Charleston County School District Teacher of the Year will be introduced before the game. During the game, the winner will be awarded a one year lease on a car from Volvo of Charleston and will be able to drive off with their prize. General Dynamics Red Shirt Fridays means all fans wearing a red shirt to the game will also receive $1 off their ticket and then will be able to donate that dollar to a military family with parents or relatives fighting overseas. The Ashley View Pub will have $3 MillerCoors Aluminum Pints. Kids should enjoy the return of The RiverDogs Express, which will be taking fans on a trip across the warning track before the game. Finally, Piggly Wiggly Postgame Fireworks offer the perfect way to finish off the night and kick off anyone's weekend.

Fans will want to get to the park early on Saturday as the first 1,000 people will receive a free long-sleeve t-shirt presented by Association for the Blind. Before the game, the Double Up for Vision tandem bike relay will finish on the field and awards will be presented to the participants. Local fans can save $1 on their ticket and find out about some of the best local businesses in the Holy City and beyond, thanks to Lowcountry Local First Go Local Saturday. The RiverDogs Express will be in action again, on the warning track before the game and on the concourse during the game. Kids can also run the bases after the game.

The "Be Your Own Fan" mission continues throughout this homestand and nothing changes on Sunday. The RiverDogs and Fetch Doggy Day Care are presenting Bark for Your Brew on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. The event will benefit Canines for Veterans. Fans can come to the park early and sample several craft beers from all over. The second Dog Day of the year, also presented by Fetch Doggy Day Care, will allow fans to bring their pooch to the park. Finally, Kids Eat Free thanks to Pepsi.
