Armor Complete Perfect February with Victory Over Jam

SPRINGFIELD, MA- The Springfield Armor outscored the Bakersfield Jam 37-19 in the fourth quarter to capture a thrilling 114-101 come-from-behind victory tonight inside the MassMutual Center. The Armor end the month of February with a perfect 8-0 record and improve to 21-13 heading into the NBA D-League All-Star break.

The Armor trailed 55-45 at halftime, their largest deficit since late January, but rallied to trim the deficit to five after three quarters. In the fourth, the Armor led 99-98 with three minutes to go before ripping off a 15-3 run to finish the game, punctuated by a JamesOn Curry three with less than a minute to play to push the advantage from seven to ten. The Armor used deft second-half foul shooting (21-24) to help put Bakersfield away in the waning stages of the game.

Springfield's starting five combined to score 100 of the team's 114 points tonight, led by a trio of players who posted double-doubles. Jeff Foote put up a monster line with 21 points and 14 rebounds, Dennis Horner contributed 21 points and 12 rebounds and JamesOn Curry scored 16 points (14 in the second half) and dished out 10 assists to fuel the Armor. Jerry Smith added 24 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and L.D. Williams tossed in 18 points to round out the double figures scorers on the evening.

The Armor forced the Jam into 20 turnovers, including 14 in the second half, and held Bakersfield to just 5-23 (.217) from three-point range. The Armor also out-rebounded Bakersfield 50-39 and scored 23 second chance points to the Jam's 6.

Bakersfield's Osiris Eldridge scored a team-high 22 points off the Jam's bench and Renaldo Major added 21 points (15 in the first half) to lead the Jam on the offensive end.

Springfield will return to action on March 2nd when they travel to Maine to take on the rival Red Claws. The Armor will not return home to the MassMutual Center until March 8th when they host the Canton Charge for the first time this season.

WILLIAMS, SMITH TO PARTICIPATE IN ALL-STAR SKILLS CONTESTS: The NBA Development League announced today that L.D. Williams and Jerry Smith will compete in the Dream Factory Dunk Contest and Shooting Stars Competition respectively, presented by Haier.

The dunk contest will take place live at halftime of the NBA D-League All-Star game, which will air on NBA TV at 2:00 PM on Saturday, Feb. 25th, while the Shooting Stars Competition can be seen on nba.com/futurecast.

Williams, the 2011 NBA D-League Showcase Slam Dunk champion, will battle Los Angeles' Zach Andrews, Bakersfield's Osiris Eldridge and Idaho's Terrico White for the dunk contest crown.

Smith will take part in the third annual Shooting Stars Competition, featuring 12 NBA D-League talents competing in four teams of three in a two-round timed shooting event.
