West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

COMSTOCK PARK, MI -- Christmas light displays are being set-up around Fifth Third Ballpark in preparation for the Nite Lites annual holiday lights display, which is set to return to the ballpark for the 14th season. Michigan's largest Christmas light display will open to the public this Saturday, November 19 at 6:00 p.m. and runs nightly from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. through January 1.

The drive-through Nite Lites display is over a mile long and includes more than 40 life-size animated figures, lighted trees and tunnels. Synchronized lights give life to a waving Frosty, a five-car train full of gifts, Santa carrying a huge sack of presents, Santa and his nine reindeer (a 160-foot long display), Santa bowling, and of course Santa pitching a baseball to an elf who hits it out of the park - every time. Every year new displays are added, in all, more than one million lights will be sparkling at the ballpark.

Kids and kids at heart will also be able to visit with Santa Claus himself. Santa will be available from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday through Sunday, December 9-11; and again from Friday, December 16 through Friday, December 23 at AJ's Fun Center. There is no additional cost to visit with Santa Claus, but children and pets will have the opportunity to have their photos taken with Santa for a small fee.

Vehicles will enter from West River Drive at Fifth Third Ballpark's main entrance, and holiday lights will guide you through the display. Admission is $12 per car, $18 per limo or motor home, $30 per mini bus and $60 per Greyhound bus. The event is sponsored by AJ's Family Fun Center and the West Michigan Whitecaps. A portion of all profits will be donated to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. For more information regarding the light display or fundraising opportunities, please contact Bill Schrader at (616) 292-1434 or visit the Nite Lites web site at nitelitesshow.com.
