51s Host Oklahoma City & New Orleans for 8 Games from August 3-10

LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will return to Cashman Field to begin an eight-game homestand against the Oklahoma City RedHawks, Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, on Wednesday, August 3 at 7:05 p.m. The four-game series will conclude on Saturday, August 6 and all four games will begin at 7:05 p.m. The 51s will then host the New Orleans Zephyrs, Triple-A affiliate of the Florida Marlins, in a four-game series from Sunday-Wednesday, August 7-10, all games at 7:05 p.m. Las Vegas will begin a stretch of 16 straight games against the American Conference from August 3-19.

The 51s, under manager Marty Brown, are currently 54-56, .491 on the season and in second place in the Pacific Southern Division, 13 games behind Sacramento (67-43, .609, best record in the PCL). The 51s are currently on an eight-game road trip that will conclude in Tacoma, Wash., against the Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, on Tuesday morning.

Las Vegas is averaging 4,304 fans (232,425) through 54 home dates in the 2011 campaign. The season-high crowd was 11,001 vs. Round Rock on May 17. The Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in "home" attendance in all 28 seasons (1983-2010) and the all-time total now stands at 9,593,391.

Game two of the series on Thursday, August 4 will feature the final Budweiser Dollar Beer Night of the season and Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.

A spectacular postgame "Fireworks" show, presented by Spinal Care of Nevada, will be featured and five flat screen televisions will be given away to selected fans throughout the game for Friday's contest against the RedHawks.

The finale of the four-game series on Saturday will feature 51s Back Pack Night to the first 2,500 fans through the gates.

Oklahoma City's roster features first baseman/third baseman Koby Clemens, the son of seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens, who pitched for the Astros from 2004-06. He has appeared in 102 games for the RedHawks and is batting .231 (78-for-338) with 17 doubles, 14 home runs and 49 RBI.

Oklahoma City was the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers for 13 seasons (1998-2010). The RedHawks are in their first season as the top affiliate of the Houston Astros. Oklahoma City was the Triple-A affiliate of the Astros in the PCL from 1963-68.

Las Vegas will then host New Orleans in the opener of the four-game series on Sunday, August 7. The final three "home" Sunday games will be played at 7:05 p.m. (August 21 vs. Fresno and Sept. 4 vs. Salt Lake).

Game two of the series will feature Value Menu Monday. The 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.

T-Shirt Tuesdays (August 9) will feature Andre Ethier T-Shirt Night, to the first 1,000 fans through the gates. Ethier, a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers and a 2011 National League All-Star, played for the Las Vegas 51s in 2006.

New Orleans' roster features two of the top 10 prospects in the Marlins organization, according to Baseball America: top prospect, third baseman Matt Dominguez and shortstop Osvaldo Martinez (No. 5). Former 51s second baseman Joe Thurston is also a member of the Zephyrs (.313, 28 2B, 8 HR, 42 RBI, 101 G). Thurston, a member of Las Vegas from 2002-05, is the all-time franchise career leader in games played (453), at-bats (1,699), hits (516), triples (24), sacrifice bunts (29) and hit-by-pitch (50) and ranks second in total bases (744) to Chin-Feng Chen (845). Thurston also is the single-season franchise leader in at-bats (587 in 2002), hits (196 in 2002, led all of minor league baseball) and triples (13 in 2002).

Following the homestand, the PCL has a scheduled off day on Thursday, August 11. Las Vegas will then embark on an eight-game Tennessee road trip beginning on Friday, August 12 in Nashville against the Sounds, Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. The series will conclude on Monday, August 15. The 51s will then travel to Memphis to face the Redbirds, Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, in a four-game series from Tuesday-Friday, August 16-19.

The 51s will broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Fox Sports Radio 920 AM, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.com . Russ Langer, the six-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 12th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

Tickets for all remaining 51s home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field box office. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith's Food & Drug.

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $10.00 (reserved), $13.00 (plaza) and $14.00 (field). The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza and reserved seats throughout the season.
