Predators DB Rayshaun Kizer Sets New AFL Interceptions Mark

July 25, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Orlando Predators News Release

ORLANDO - Orlando Predators defensive back Rayshaun Kizer (5-10, 192, Walsh) intercepted an Arena Football League single-season record 16th pass Saturday night in the fourth quarter of a 62-44 win over the New Orleans VooDoo. With that interception, Kizer closed the regular season with the most interceptions in the AFL in back-to-back seasons.

The AFL's record for most interceptions in a season entering the year was 13 by multiple players, most recently Chicago's Dennison Robinson in 2008. Kizer also racked up an AFL-record 237 yards on interception returns and took back three picks for touchdowns.

Kizer, in his second year, set an AFL rookie record with 12 interceptions and 148 return yards in 2010, breaking the Preds single-season mark of 11 INTs set in 1992 (Tony Scott) and matched in 2000 (Kenny McEntyre). He now has 28 interceptions in his short career, placing him No. 4 on the Predators career INT list behind McEntyre (86), Durwood Roquemore (30) and Barry Wagner (29).

McEntyre intercepted his AFL-best 96th career pass on Saturday in the first quarter of his final regular season game.

The Predators intercepted a team-record 40 passes on the season, good for No. 2 in the league behind Chicago's 42. Travis Coleman (11 INTs), Marlon Moye-Moore (7), McEntyre (5) and Paul Griffin (1) contributed defensively in that category over the course of the season.
