Stockton Ports News Release

STOCKTON, Calif.-Stockton Ports infielder Michael Gilmartin was named to the 2011 California League Mid-Season All-Star team as the All-Star Roster was released by the league today. The infielder is the lone representative of the Ports at the 15th annual All-Star game between the California and Carolina Leagues which will be held on June 21 in Modesto.

As a representative of the Ports, Gilmartin has earned his spot on the All-Star roster. Heading into the All-Star break, Gilmartin is batting .295 with five triples and three home runs. GIlmartin's five triples tie him for second best with Denny Almonte (High Desert) and Rian Kiniry (Inland Empire) in the California League.

"We are excited to congratulate Michael on his selection as a Mid-Season All-Star," Ports General Manager Pat Filippone said. "He has had an impressive run through the first half of the season, and we are looking forward to see his progression through the rest of the season."

The switch-hitting Gilmartin currently leads the Ports with a .295 average, and is among the team leaders in RBIs (26), On Base Percentage (.355) and Slugging Percentage (.454). Gilmartin has split time on defense between shortstop, third base and second base. Gilmartin is amongst the most consistent hitters on the Ports roster, including a terrific month of April where he hit .306.
