Lamb goes 83rd overall to the Texas Rangers

York High School graduate and former Pilot Will Lamb was selected as the 83rd overall pick in the 2011 Major League Baseball draft by the Texas Rangers. Lamb graduated from York in 2008 and went on to play at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. His senior year at York he was first-team all-district, all-region, and all-state, along with being the AA Region 1 Player of the year in 2008. In Lamb's first two years at Clemson he hit .284 with 65 hits and four home runs. On the mound he threw 74 innings and recorded a 4.26 ERA, helping to lead the Tigers to the 2009 and 2010 College World Series. As a junior Lamb is currently playing in the College World Series and is hitting .348 on the season with 79 hits, three of those being home runs. He is 1-1 on the mound this year with a 5.11 ERA with ten apperances this season.

Lamb played in Hampton in the summers of 2009 and 2010. In 2009 he hit .236 with one home run and 30 hits. The following year, however, he hit .396 and had a .500 slugging percentage. Lamb was apart of the 2009 Coastal Plain League championship team and was a key role in the line up both summers he spent with Pilots. He was also chosen as the Top CPL Prospect in 2010.
