Milwaukee Hangs On For 3-2 Win Over Texas

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (2-2) were defeated by the Milwaukee Admirals (2-2) 3-2 in Game 4 of the West Division Semifinal on Wednesday night in front 5,323 fans at Cedar Park Center. Admirals forward Mark Van Guilder scored the game-winning goal at 3:13 of the third period and Milwaukee held off Texas to tie the series 2-2. Stars forwards Scott Glennie and Greg Rallo each tallied a goal in the one-goal defeat. Forwards Gabriel Bourque and Taylor Beck each scored a power-play goal for the Admirals. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (2-2) saved 20 shots in the loss. Milwaukee goalie Jeremy Smith (2-2) stopped 30 of the 32 shots for the win. With the win, Milwaukee guaranteed game 6 will be played at the Bradley Center. The series remains at Cedar Park Center for Game 5 at 7:30 PM on Friday.

The Admirals took a late first-period lead with a goal from left wing Gabriel Bourque on the power play. Defenseman Roman Josi and right wing Chris Mueller both had assists at 14:03 for a 1-0 tally. Josi found Bourque in front of the Texas net for his fourth goal of the playoffs.

After an initial save from goalie Jeremy Smith, Texas forward Scott Glennie tied the game up with a goal at 6:25. Forward Cody Chupp and defenseman Matt Stephenson each tallied an assist for a 1-1 score. The goal was the first of his pro career for the rookie, who was selected by the Dallas Stars eighth overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Milwaukee responded at 12:47 on the power play with a goal from right wing Taylor Beck. Mueller and defenseman Grant Lewis each helped to end the second period 2-1 Admirals. Lewis found Beck on the back-door play for his first Calder Cup Playoff goal.

Milwaukee extended its lead at 3:13 of the third with forward Mark Van Guilder slipping the puck past Bachman off a rebound. Forward Ryan Thang assisted on Van Guilder's first of the postseason for the 3-1 lead. The Stars answered back at 8:45 with a five-on-three, power-play goal from right wing Greg Rallo. Center Aaron Gagnon and defenseman Dan Spang each picked up an assist on the final goal of the night. Rallo's first of the playoffs pulled the Stars within a goal at 3-2.

The Texas Stars host Game 5 on Friday, April 22nd at 7:30 PM at Cedar Park. Friday is a 3-2-1 night, with $3.00 domestic drafts, $2.00 sodas and $1.00 hot dogs. The best of seven series shifts to Milwaukee Monday, April 25th at 7:00 PM. If needed, the series will finish at the Bradley Center for Game 7 on Tuesday.
