Syracuse Crunch News Release
Syracuse, NY (April 20, 2011) - The Syracuse Crunch and POMCO Group teamed up during the 2010-11 season to help students attend the American Diabetes Association's Camp Aspire.
For every goal the Crunch scored at home during the 2010-11 season, POMCO Group donated $25 to a scholarship fund to send students from the Syracuse City School District to the American Diabetes Association's Camp Aspire. With 119 goals scored at home, POMCO Group raised a total of $2,975. A representative from POMCO Group and the American Diabetes Association participated in an on-ice check presentation at the Crunch's home finale on April 9 vs. Norfolk.
Camp Aspire is an acronym for "Always Sharing Priceless, Inspirational, Rewarding Experiences". The main goal of the program at Camp Aspire is to allow the campers the ability to feel at ease and "accepted" in a community where having diabetes is the rule, not the exception. The campers learn to understand diabetes and the process of self-management, under skilled and continuous medical supervision. It is the hope of the staff that these children go home feeling more self-confident and self-reliant, having gained the knowledge they need to live successful, full lives with diabetes.
POMCO Group is one of the nation's largest independent professional benefits managers for self-insured medical, workers' compensation and disability benefit plans. They work closely with their clients to help them better and more efficiently manage their employees' benefits and risk management plans.
Season tickets for the 2011-12 season are on sale now and can be purchased by calling the Crunch office at (315) 473- 4444, or by stopping by the Crunch office at The Oncenter War Memorial Arena, located at 800 South State Street in downtown Syracuse.
