The Attack and Spitfires Go Head to Head in Rogers Western Conference Finals

April 18, 2011 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack waited four days to find out who their opponent would be in the Western Conference Finals and now that they know, they will waste little time in getting things started. The first game of the Western Finals is slated to go Tuesday, April 19th at 7:00pm in Owen Sound.

The Attack and Spitfires are no strangers to each other having squared off four times during the regular season. The Attack won three of those meetings by scores of 4-3, 4-3 and 6-4, dropping their only game in a 4-3 shoot out loss in Windsor. Three of the four meetings between the two clubs have been one goal games which leads former Spitfire and Attack Captain Garrett Wilson to believe that the Western Conference Finals will be much of the same.

"It is going to be a tough, tight checking series the whole way.", stated the Elmvale native. "Nothing has come easy for us all year and we don't expect that to start now. Hard work and determination got us here and hard work and determination will keep us going."

Windsor has six of the top ten scorers in the playoffs with Tom Kuhnhackl (16pts), Ryan Ellis (16pts), Stephen Johnston (16pts), Alexander Khokhlachev (15pts), Jake Carrick (14pts) and Zack Kassian (14pts) all leading the charge for the defending Memorial Cup Champions. The Attack has a balanced scoring charge with overage forward Robby Mignardi leading the way with 6 goals. Scott Stajcer has returned from injury to post a 4-0 record to go along with a 1.07GAA and a .963 save percentage.

Season ticket holders are reminded they have until 1:00pm on Monday to claim their seats or they will be released to the general public. Standing room tickets are available by visiting the Attack Box Office in the front lobby of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre or trying to call (519) 371-7452. The complete schedule for the Rogers Western Conference Finals is listed below.
