Albany Devils News Release

THE WEEK THAT WAS:

Tuesday, Devils 2 at Worcester 0

Mike McKenna made 32 stops and Michael Swift netted a pair of goals as the Devils defeated the Worcester Sharks, 2-0, at the DCU Center. McKenna was called on 30 times in the second and third periods. He earned first star of the game honors by posting his eighth career shutout and his first since Feb. 19, 2010 against Manchester (5-0). The Devils' netminder helped the club kill off all six Sharks' power plays, including one with less than a minute to play. Swift netted the game winner at 10:47 of the first with an assist going to Chad Wiseman. Swift followed with a shorthanded, empty-net goal in the closing seconds on a clearing attempt by Brad Mills.

Friday, Devils 3 vs. Binghamton 2

Adam Henrique and Jacob Josefson each had two points, but it was Louis Robitaille who netted the game-winning goal to give the Devils a 3-2 victory against the Binghamton Senators at the Times Union Center. The win was the third straight for the Devils. Robitaille scored the winner at 3:39 of the third after Matt Anderson tied the game with 16.9 seconds remaining in the second period. Josefson had the team's first goal, while Henrique assisted on his and Anderson's tallies. Mike McKenna logged the win with 27 stops.

Saturday, Devils 6 vs. Springfield 3

In a penalty filled contest, Adam Henrique provided the offensive touch, netting two goals in the Albany Devils 6-3 win against the Springfield Falcons Saturday at the Times Union Center. Henrique scored the team's third and fourth goals, including the game-winner, as Albany extended its winning streak to a season-long four games. Michael Swift and Brad Mills netted shorthanded goals and Matt Anderson and Alexander Urbom concluded the scoring with goals in the final 1:30.

NOTABLES:

-- A victory against the Senators on Wednesday would give the Devils five-consecutive wins and tie the franchise record for longest winning streak. The Devils have won five in a row twice in their five year history. The first came during the 2008-09 season between Nov. 21 and Nov. 29, while the second was last season between Nov. 7 and Nov. 14.

-- Albany has only allowed one power-play goal in its last six outings, operating at 96.4 percent (27-28). The team is 10-4-0-2 when not surrendering a power-play goal this season.

-- Michael Swift and Brad Mills each registered shorthanded goals in the Devils 6-3 win against Springfield on Jan. 15. It marked the second time the Devils scored multiple shorthanded goals in a game. The first was in a 6-4 loss against Rochester on Nov. 6 (Mills and Vladimir Zharkov). The Devils are tied for third in the AHL with eight shorthanded tallies. Individually, Swift has already set the franchise record for shorthanded goals in a season and is tied for third in the league with four.

-- Adam Henrique's two-goal showing against Springfield on Jan. 15 was the team's seventh multi-goal performance of the season: Matt Anderson (2; Nov. 10), Stephen Gionta (2; Jan. 5), David McIntyre (2; Oct. 9), Michael Swift (2; Nov. 20 and Jan. 11) Alexander Vasyunov (2; Dec. 31).

-- Jeff Frazee (2) and Mike McKenna (1) have combined for three shutouts so far this season. The franchise record for shutouts in a season is four, which was accomplished in 2009-10, 2008-09 and 2006-07. All-time, the Devils have posted 16 shutouts and Frazee is the all-time leader with seven, while McKenna is second with four. This season, Albany is 2-1-0-0 when coming off a shutout win; all-time the team is 8-7-0-1.

-- Jacob Josefson returned to the Albany lineup for the first time on Jan. 7since the home-opener on Oct. 9. Josefson was recalled by New Jersey on Oct 14 and made his NHL debut against Colorado on Oct. 15. He was placed on the team's I.R. on Nov. 4 and missed 30 games (Oct. 19 - Jan. 6). In the five games since arriving, he has a goal and five assists, while the team has posted a 4-1-0-0 mark.

-- Adam Henrique posted his fourth and fifth multi-point games of the season, including his first career multi-goal game. He had a pair of assists against Binghamton on Friday and then had two goals, including the game-winner, against Springfield on Saturday. Henrique has 11 points (4g-7a) in the last 11 games and has produced at least one point in 15 of the last 21 contests (8g-12a).

-- Alexander Urbom netted his first-career goal against Springfield on Jan. 15, finding an empty net from the far goal line. Urbom was a season-best plus-5 in the 6-3 win.
