Worcester Sharks Announce Details for 3rd Annual High School Hockey Clash

WORCESTER, MA - Worcester Sharks President Michael A. Mudd announced today the details for the 3rd annual High School Hockey Clash presented by the Massachusetts Army National Guard featuring the Marlboro Panthers and the Hudson Hawks on Saturday, January 22 before the Sharks game vs. the Sound Tigers at 4:00pm at the DCU Center.

Saturday, January 22 - Worcester Sharks vs. Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7pm

3rd annual High School Hockey Clash (PREGAME) GAME TO START APPROXIMATELY AT 4PM - before the Sharks vs. Sound Tigers

The 2011 Clash pits the varsity hockey teams from Hudson HS vs. Marlboro HS

* 2:30pm - Alumni teams take the ice (fans/family coming for this game will enter through door 5)

* 3:30pm - DCU Center doors open (Scratch bobblehead giveaway to first 3,000 fans)

* 4pm - Hudson vs. Marlboro take the ice for the CLASH!

* 7pm - Sharks vs. Sound Tigers

* One ticket good for all 3 games. Must have a ticket to enter.

* Tickets cost $11 in advance.

* Day of the game before 5pm, fans mentioning the HS doubleheader will pay $15.

* The Sharks game will feature a special Tribute to the Worcester IceCats and wear an IceCats jersey, which will be auctioned off during and after the game.

This season, eight local high school varsity boy's hockey teams will skate on the DCU Center Ice on the same day as a Worcester Sharks game. Tickets cost just $11 in advance for each participating school, with one ticket to garner entry into the high school game and the Sharks game.

The remaining two high school hockey doubleheaders presented by the Massachusetts Army National Guard are listed below;

The 1st annual High School Hockey Faceoff will include the Auburn Rockets and the Wachusett Mountaineers on Saturday, January 29 before the Sharks host the Bruins.

The 5th annual High School Hockey Classic will showcase the St. John's Pioneers and the St. Peter Marian Guardians on Saturday, February 5 before the Sharks host the Bruins at 7pm.

"The Worcester Sharks are proud to showcase high school hockey at the DCU Center," said Mudd. "The high school games will have all the bells and whistles of a regular Sharks game. We expect large turnouts for all four games and look forward to some great high school hockey action."

On Tuesday, the Sharks host the Portland Pirates at the DCU Center at 7pm in a battle in the UNUM Cup Challenge. Tickets dated December 26th will be honored at the game (original game was postponed due to snow storm).

On Friday, the Sharks visit the Portland Pirates at 7pm.

On Saturday, the Sharks will host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7pm on IceCats Night - A Tribute to the Worcester IceCats at the DCU Center. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Scratch (Worcester Ice Cats mascot) bobblehead doll and rumors are circulating that Scratch will return to the DCU Center and pay FINZ a visit!

A special appearance by former Worcester IceCats defenseman Terry Virtue will highlight the promotions packed tribute to the IceCats as the Sharks will sport a Worcester IceCats jersey with Sharks logos to commemorate the 11 seasons of Worcester IceCats hockey at the DCU Center.

The IceCats jerseys worn by the Sharks will be auctioned off throughout the game and a few select jerseys will be auctioned off via a live postgame auction with Sharks players.

The inaugural class of the Worcester Hockey Hall of Fame which includes; Larz Anderson, Eddie Bates, Marvin Degon Sr., Kelly O'Leary, Terry Virtue, and Scott Young, will be inducted during an on-ice ceremony during the first intermission.

Doors will open at 3:30pm for the 3rd annual High School Hockey Clash presented by the Massachusetts Army National Guard featuring Hudson and Marlboro at 4pm in the 2nd of four high school hockey doubleheaders at the DCU Center this season. The WXLO street team will greet Sharks fans at 530pm in the DCU Center lobby.

On Sunday, the Sharks host the Portland Pirates at 3pm with a special on-ice wedding during the 2nd intermission! Its $5 Kids Sundays presented by Papa Gino's! Kids 12-and-under are just $5 with a purchase of an adult gold level ticket! With each complete purchase (along with the purchase of an adult gold level ticket) fans will receive a FREE large cheese pizza coupon to be used at participating Papa Gino's locations. The $5 Kids Sunday ticket offer will only be available at the DCU Center Box Office on the day of the game.
