Rochester Americans News Release

(Rochester, NY)... The home woes continued tonight for the Rochester Americans as they saw their losing streak extend to four games after being held scoreless in a 4-0 loss to the Albany Devils this evening at The Blue Cross Arena. With the loss, Rochester now falls to 1-7-0-0 on home ice and 8-10-1-0 on the season.

Michael Swift led the Devils with a two-goal performance as Rob Davison (0+2) and Patrick Davis (0+2) each assisted on two goals to lead the Albany offense. Goaltender Jeff Frazee earned his first shutout of the season, making 34 saves on 34 shots to secure a second straight win for Albany.

The Devils got on the board first when defenseman Mark Fayne (1+0) scored off a face-off for his first goal of the season at 12:17. Matt Anderson (0+1) won the draw cleanly from the right face-off circle back to Davison, who delivered a pass to Fayne moments before he sent he puck into the back of the net on a booming one-timer from just inside the blueline. Fayne's tally would eventually prove to be the game-winner.

The Amerks fell behind by two at 19:51 when Albany's Nick Palmieri (1+0) tipped the puck past Plante for his fourth of the season. Harry Young (0+1) and Davis both picked up the helpers.

Nearly the entire second period remained scoreless until the Devils took over the Amerks power play. Davison flipped the puck out of the zone, where it was picked up by Swift. Swift then spun around the Amerks defense, scooped up the loose puck and beat Plante shorthanded to give his team the three-goal advantage at 14:55.

Just over five minutes into the final stanza, Albany extended its lead by four on their five-on-three power play. Adam Henrique (0+1) dished the puck to Tyler Eckford (0+1), who then sent it to Swift. Swift tipped it in for his second of the night and third of the season. Unfortunately, the Amerks were unable to answer back, leaving Swift's goal to become the Devils' last in a 4-0 decision.

Rochester closes out the weekend on Sunday, November 21st as the Syracuse Crunch journey west down the I-90 Interstate to renew one of the fiercest rivals in the AHL. The contest will mark the first of 10 encounters between the longtime foes and can be heard live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk. The game will also be televised lived on Time Warner Cable SportsNet Channel 26.The Amerks posted an impressive 9-1-0-0 record against the Crunch in the season series a year ago, including an unblemished 5-0-0-0 count on home ice. Rochester defeated Syracuse nine consecutive times during that stretch, before falling in the final game of the regular season. The Amerks are 91-76-15 lifetime against the Crunch.
