Moose Release Pitton from PTO

The Manitoba Moose today announced they have released forward Jason Pitton from his professional tryout contract.

Pitton, 24, attended training camp with the Moose and signed a PTO on Tuesday, Nov. 16 after appearing in 11 games with the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL. Pitton played in one game with the Moose on Nov. 18 against the Rockford IceHogs and recorded no points and two penalty minutes.

In his 11 games with the Stockton Thunder before joining the Moose, Pitton scored 11 points (3g, 8a) and recorded 34 penalty minutes. Pitton has now played in 162 games in the American Hockey League in his five-year pro career. In that span, he has 30 points (13g, 17a) and 152 penalty minutes.

Pitton was originally drafted by the New York Islanders in the eighth round, 244th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
