Colonials Sign WR Aaron Valentin

The Hartford Colonials signed former Purdue University wide receiver Aaron Valentin. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Valentin (6-2, 205) is the 10th player signed by the Colonials since Oct. 18. The team has made a total of 24 roster moves in the last 22 days.

In two seasons at Purdue, Valentin had 65 career receptions for 845 yards and nine touchdowns. He also returned kickoffs (21.9 yards avg.) and punts (12.1) for the Boilermakers.

Following the 2010 draft, Valentin signed as a free agent with Cleveland and participated in Browns rookie minicamp. He was released May 4.

The Colonials (2-4), coming off a bye week, play a game of significant importance Thursday when they travel to Orlando to take on the Florida Tuskers (3-3) at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando at 7 pm. Hartford needs a victory to keep its hopes alive of playing in the UFL Championship game Nov. 27 in Omaha, NE.

The Colonials play their final regular season game Nov. 20 against Las Vegas at Rentschler Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased by calling 860-913-2300 or on-line at www.hartfordcolonials.com.
