Calgary, AB - The 2009-10 Western Hockey League regular season enters its second weekend of action in October with 20 games on the schedule for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
In Chilliwack, B.C., the Bruins, along with the Chilliwack Rotary Club, will host their Sports Celebrity Dinner on Monday. Hockey Hall of Fame broadcaster Jim Robson and Hockey Night in Canada broadcaster Jim Hughson will be the guests of honor for the event.
In Edmonton, AB, the Oil Kings will be sporting a new look on Friday night when they host the Medicine Hat Tigers. The team will debut their new Third Jersey for the game.
In Kamloops, B.C., the Blazers will hold their first Blueliner Breakfast of the season on Sunday, October 17th.
In Cranbrook, B.C., the Kootenay Ice take on the Regina Pats on Saturday night, and fans can gear up for the game at a Tailgate Party in the RecPlex parking lot prior to the game.
In Prince George, B.C., Friday night is Fill the Food Bank night when the Cougars host the Prince Albert Raiders. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate in support of the Salvation Army Food Bank in Prince George.
In Red Deer, AB, the Rebels are encouraging fans to help Drive Away Hunger on Saturday night when the team hosts the Prince Albert Raiders. Fans can also bring along their skates and hit the ice with the Rebels following the game.
In Swift Current, SK, the Broncos will show off their new Third Jersey on Saturday night when they host the Brandon Wheat Kings. Broncos' alumni will be on hand for the festivities.

Red Deer Rebels vs Saskatoon Blades Friday, Oct. 15
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and the Red Deer Rebels host Darian Dziurzynski and the Saskatoon Blades on Friday for a battle between the current top two teams in the Eastern Conference.
The Rebels blanked the Warriors 3-0 in Moose Jaw last Saturday to stretch their winning streak to four games, and currently pace the Central Division and Eastern Conference with 14 points. The Rebels have outscored their opponents 37-17 through their first nine games. Nugent-Hopkins has at least one point in all but one game he's played this season.
The Blades pushed their winning streak to four games with a 6-4 win over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors in Saskatoon last Friday, and currently sit two points back of Red Deer in the Eastern Conference standings. The Blades have scored 21 goals over their last four games. Dziurzynski is the current WHL Player of the Week after netting five goals in two games last weekend.
It's the first meeting of the season between the Blades and Rebels. The Blades took three of four meetings versus the Rebels last season.
Kelowna Rockets vs Portland Winterhawks Saturday, Oct. 16
Shane McColgan's Kelowna Rockets welcome Ty Rattie's Portland Winterhawks on Saturday night for a contest that will feature two of the WHL's top NHL draft-eligible prospects going head-to-head.
The Rockets are off to a rough start to the season, having dropped five of their first seven games including a 5-4 loss to the Kamloops Blazers on Wednesday night in Kelowna. 17-year-old Shane McColgan has four assists in four games this season after posting an impressive 25 goals and 69 points as a 16-year-old rookie last year.
The Winterhawks saw a four-game winning streak snapped with a 5-1 loss to the defending WHL Champion Calgary Hitmen in Portland on Wednesday night. 17-year-old Ty Rattie has piled up 13 points on three goals and 10 assists through his first nine contests this season.
Both Rattie and McColgan are considered top prospects for the 2011 NHL Entry draft next summer.
