Ice Finalize 20 Year Old Situation

October 14, 2010 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Kootenay Ice News Release

Cranbrook, BC - Jeff Chynoweth, General Manager of the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club, today announced that the club has released 20-year-old Goaltender Todd Mathews.

"It was a very tough decision, but with four 20-year-olds on our roster we knew when the season started we could only keep three of them. Unfortunately, for whatever reason there was no market for 20-year-old goaltenders in the League and we felt as an organization that we needed the offense and leadership provided by the three overage forwards. We wish Todd all the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions to our Hockey Club over the past two years," added Chynoweth.

The ICE roster now consists of 24 players, including two goaltenders, seven defenseman and 15 forwards. Kootenay returns to action Saturday night at home against the Regina Pats at 7:00 pm. Tickets for the game are available at the Kootenay ICE Office.
