Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League announce the signing of quarterback, Justin Allgood (6'2, 240, Central Oklahoma) for the 2011 season. Allgood, who will be entering his second AFL season, played with the Tulsa Talons in 2010 where he led the League with 109 touchdown passes.

Allgood re-joins All-Arena wide receiver Donovan Morgan, who recently signed with the Soul and played in Tulsa last season, on the 2011 Soul roster. Allgood and Morgan hooked up for 52 touchdowns in 2010. Last season, Allgood completed 351-of-560 passes (62.7%) for 4,359 yards with a league-leading 109 TDs and 16 INTs. He also added 88 rushing yards with three touchdowns.

"Justin was one of the top-rated quarterbacks in the AFL," said Soul head coach Mike Hohensee. "You don't throw 109 touchdown passes by accident. He has the ability to make all the throws to be successful in our league. I look forward to working with him to help lead this team to a championship."

"The advantage in having a coach like Mike Hohensee is that he is the best teacher of the quarterback position in Arena Football," said Soul co-majority owner and current ESPN Monday Night Football broadcaster, Ron Jaworski. "Hohensee is the same coach that provided (former Soul quarterback) Matt D'Orazio the early tutelage that helped propel him to two ArenaBowl titles. We believe that Justin Allgood has the same potential and believe that we will get the same results."

Allgood began his professional career in the af2 with the Oklahoma Yard Dawgz (2006) and the Tulsa Talons (2007-09). In 2009, Justin completed 341-of-526 passes (64.8%) for 4,312 yards and an af2-record 108 touchdowns and 17 INTs. In 2008, he tallied 2,938 yards, completing 260-of-404 passes (64.4%) for 64 touchdowns in 12 games of service. In 2007, he passed for 1,342 yards and 30 touchdowns after taking over as starter halfway through the season and led the team to the af2 title.

Allgood played at the University of Central Oklahoma where he finished as the second leading passer in UCO history with 4,870 yards and 34 touchdowns in over two seasons. He was named second-team, all-conference in 2004 and 2005.
