Brown and Reddick Join Sea Dogs

Portland, Maine- Catcher Dusty Brown rejoins the Sea Dogs from Triple-A Pawtucket. Outfielder Josh Reddick has also been added to the Sea Dogs roster, Reddick joins Portland from Single-A Greenville. To make room for Brown and Reddick on the roster, catcher Salvador Paniagua and right-handed pitcher Blake Maxwell were transferred to Single-A Lancaster.

Brown appeared in 68 games with the Sea Dogs this season hitting .271 with nine home runs and 43 RBI's. He was selected as the Red Sox Minor League Offensive Player of the Month for July after hitting .455 with three home runs and 11 RBI's. He was transferred to Triple-A Pawtucket on August 18th, in eight games with the Pawsox he hit .185. The 25 year-old Brown was selected by the Red Sox in the 35th round of the June 2000 draft.

In Reddick's first professional season, he appeared in 94 games for Single-A Greenville hitting .306 with 18 home runs and 72 RBI's. The 20-year old was drafted by the Red Sox in the 17th round of the June 2006 draft. Reddick will wear # 16.

In two stints with the Sea Dogs this season, Paniagua is hitting .262 in 14 games with two home runs and six RBI's. Paniagua was signed by the Red Sox as a non-drafted free agent on May 25, 2001.

Maxwell made one appearance for Portland tossing 2.2 innings allowing one run on three hits and striking out three against the Rock Cats on Monday.

The Sea Dogs have a one game playoff tonight at Hadlock Field at 6:00 PM against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) to determine which team will advance to the Eastern League Playoffs. Lefty Tommy Hottovy (3-10, 5.77) gets the start for Portland, while righty Kyle Yates (9-8, 4.33) gets the nod for New Hampshire.
